How blessed we are to live in a town that has so many green areas, playgrounds, parks and trails for the enjoyment of all; no matter which part of the Beach you live in and no matter what age you are. And oh, what a beautiful assortment of parks and trails we have to offer too!
The trails give you the feel that you are in the serenity of the deep woods when really, you are only a short distance away from all the shops, restaurants, businesses and activity. Whether you are just out for a stroll or a jog, perhaps a family bike ride, snow shoeing, cross country skiing …. there is always a safe, beautiful area to allow you to find your own Zen. Each designated easy-access area boasts its own beauty. As you wander along the trails you will hear the babbling waters of creeks and the river, cross little foot bridges, see varied bird and animal life, find wonderful areas to stop for a picnic, hike near the river or along the bay …… so much to see! Oh how peaceful! And for those who have never visited our area … you will be filled with awe with the sight of your first Wasaga Beach sunset! I’ve been to many countries and areas of the world, enjoying many sunsets but can tell you that sunsets here in Wasaga are beyond beautiful ………..truly breathtaking!!
Your wee family members will love the modern playgrounds with there colorful equipment. These are scattered throughout the town so no matter where you live, you can be sure that you are only a short walk from these safe, fun-filled areas for your children and their friends to enjoy again and again. For our fearless dare devils, you will find that near the RecPlex (at 1724 Mosley Street) there is a Skateboard/BMX park too!
Do you like to ice skate? Each year from December 1st right through to March Break (if we have the appropriate weather necessary) there is a beautiful outdoor rink at the Oakview Woods. It is of note that this facility does have an artificial ice surface as well as washrooms and a heated change room. At scheduled times you will find that this is a rocking area for both residents of Wasaga and the tourists alike as there is night lighting and music. So much fun!
Don’t forget about our four-legged friends as there are two park areas slated just for them. One of my own personal favorites is at Beach Area #3 , with this park being under the jurisdiction of Ontario Parks. To de-stress at the end of the day, my own little fur-buddy and I both enjoy getting sand on our feet and splashing along the shoreline …. great exercise for both of us! Open year round, there is also a wonderful municipality Bark Park near the RecPlex (at 1724 Mosley Street) … kind of a meet-and-greet for your fur-babies to socialize with their doggy-friends. There’s usually lots of action happening here around 5 pm!! As a sidebar, you must remember to obey the rules and whenever out walking with your dog, ALWAYS stoop and scoop!!
This blog is just an overview of the parks and trails we have to offer but if you would like to know more about these parks and trails here in Wasaga Beach, click here for more info with a complete list and a map of where to find them .. LOTS of useful information. Also, I thought I would include a photo I took of my wee dog as we enjoyed an outing meandering along the beautiful McIntyre Trail last fall as well as a photo taken at Beach Area 1 of a sunset.
